The device does not show any signs of life when plugged in and turned on.
Problem description
does not power on. additionally the jack for power plug is broken.

still need to replace sewing machine needle but otherwise ok
made new power connection. machine works again.
the adapter jack is broken. when rewired using crocodile clips, the machine works.
the battery holder does not seem to work when supplied with 4 AA batteries.
