Does not oscillate
When oscillation is enabled the fan does not do so.
No power (wall socket)
The device does not show any signs of life when plugged in and turned on.
The fan does not turn at all. It had been used for 2-3 years. Initially the fan still had some sound at the motor but the blades did not turn. After that, there are no sound anymore and the fan does not work.
1. Oiling is applied as the shaft is tight.
2. Tried to bypass the thermal fuse but it does not help.
3. Identified the electricity is not passed to the upper motor part and suspected that the pcb is faulty.
4. Bought a new pcb at $4+ from Shopee (Mini Fan Circuit Board Control Motherboard).
5. Replaced the pcb (Take a photo of the original wire connections, cut the wires and screw them into the new pcb) but it did not work yet.
6. Tried to bypass the thermal fuse and it works! 🎉 (Conclude that it was a pcb + thermal fuse issue)
7. Bypass the thermal fuse between the neutral (identified by connectivity) and capacitor (identified by the rotation direction).
- Cut the neutral wire, lengthen them, and connect to the thermal fuse leg in 3-in-1. Repeat for the capacitor wire and connect with the other thermal fuse leg.
- When applying solder / heating near the thermal fuse, wrap the thermal fuse with wet tissue to reduce the heat.
- New thermal fuse is secured near to the motor.
8. The infrared red receiver from pcb is secured with hot-glue + tape.
