Physically damaged
Physical damage prevents the device from functioning properly.
There was a crack on the devise near the cap where one refills liquid for use
repaired during mechanicl 1 ihc
There was a 5cm long crack near the opening where the refill cap is.
Tools required:
1) fibreglass tape
2) cable ties or clamp
3) epoxy resin and hardener
4) suitable sized/shaped applicator for epoxy eg : toothpick for small areas
5) smooth disposable surface to mix epoxy
6) gloves to work with epoxy
7) scissors and wire cutters to cut tape and cable tiesSteps :
1) clean the working surface on the device for repair
2) use clamps or cable ties to physically close the crack
3) cut suitable size of fibreglass tape and apply fibreglass tape over the crack, and over the cable ties (if not using clamps), using tweezers.
4) smoothen the fibreglass over the repair site, remove the protective layer covering the fibreglass
5) wear gloves; mix epoxy,. (Wipe the opening before closing the epoxy tubes. Ensure that the tube opening does not come into contact with the epoxy that has been squeezed out). Generally follow the mixing proportion and take note of the curing time.
6) need to do this step quickly before epoxy starts to set. apply the epoxy over the fibreglass tape using toothpick.
7) take note of the curing time. Do not touch the repair siteAdditional notes :
1) UV light can only help to cure UV cured epoxy. Usually most epoxy are not UV cured and use of UV light does not hasten curing time.
2) optionally if cable ties are used, the repair can be done in parts. After the first repair has cured, remove the cable ties and apply fibreglass tape and epoxy where the cable ties were at.
