soldered existing physical connection to spare power supply. outputs 12v correctly.
CD player is now working

found a spare power supply. 12v 2a.
however it's physically incompatible. will snip off and solder.

suspect the dc power supply is broken.
measured 0 volts output.

need to use bench power supply to confirm.
