The device does not show any signs of life when plugged in and turned on.

cannot power on

the part from china is not compatible. unable to repair. stripped for parts.
a working universal motor measures about 100 ohms and generates +- dc voltage when spun clockwise/acw
the motor coil has shorted. need to replace. it is a universal motor.
probed the AC feed into motor, it reads 240v when switch is depressed.
now suspect motor coil is faulty.
- fuse in plug works
- button switch works
- measured 37v AC across motor inputs, this seems unusual
